Research Interests:

Dr. Tizhoosh works on theoretical and practical aspects of machine intelligence and computer vision.

Machine Intelligence

Different methodologies such as reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms, fuzzy logic and neural networks are under investigation. A major research field is the opposition-based computing with wide applications for extension of other learning schemes. General pattern recognition and data classification challenges are addressed to verify the performance of the developed machine intelligence techniques.

Computer Vision

Image enhancement and segmentation are the tasks in focus. Medical image processing for breast, prostate and brain cancer has been under investigation. A new research direction includes Terahertz imaging with industrial and biomedical applications.
